Ouroboros

Ouroborus is a short puzzle game made for the GMTK 2025 Game Jam for the theme "Loop".  It uses similar mechanics to the classic Snake game, while implementing visuals and story from historical mentions of Ouroborus within Myths and Legends.

Controls:

up, down, left and right arrow keys to move

Currently Available Levels:

Egyptian: Level 1 and 2

Nordic: Level 1 (only accessible through the random button for now)

Alchemy: Level 1 and 2

While trying to come up with ideas based on the theme of loop, we did a lot of brainstorming before eventually landing on the Ouroborus as it seemed like a fun and cool idea. Little did we know just how much history existed behind this symbol and motif, from ancient China to Nordic Myths and Legends, the ouroborus snake seemed to show up consistently as a symbol of death and rebirth. While unexpected, I also found out that Loki's name (yes, that one) seems to have originated from a word similar to Loop as well, which is very cool indeed :>
